The facility operates as a for-profit nursing center.

Throughout the same period, the nursing home received an overall CMS rating of one, which fell below Pennsylvania’s statewide nursing home average of 3.0. CMS ratings assess facilities on key metrics such as results from health inspections, staffing data, and the quality of care delivered to residents.

Records show Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center averaged 325.7 residents daily in the first quarter of 2026 while offering 589 beds. The nursing home is not affiliated with a hospital.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the older adult segment of the population is rising as the number of children declines. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while the under-18 population dropped by 1.7%. The senior population in the U.S. has increased considerably in the past 100 years, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 analysis found that about half of adults in this age range, approximately 28 million people, will likely need long-term services and supports. The same report estimates that over one-third of older adults could ultimately require care in a nursing facility.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an organization focused on insurance education. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
