Congressman Chris Deluzio, representing Pennsylvania’s 17th district, posted a series of statements on May 20, 2026, addressing issues of public safety, economic policy, and environmental regulation.
In his first post on the matter of religious safety and hate crimes, Deluzio wrote on May 20: “Terrible. In America, nobody should have to worry about getting killed at their house of worship. Leaders have a responsibility to speak up and condemn hateful, Islamophobic attacks.”
Later that day, he addressed trade policy and labor investment with a call for change. On May 20 he stated: “We’re calling for a different kind of trade policy—one that invests in workers at the heart of it and reindustrializes towns across Western PA and America.”
In another statement posted on May 20, Deluzio criticized recent administrative decisions regarding environmental standards: “Yet another swampy decision by this Administration—putting polluters ahead of our health. The United States of America should have clean and safe drinking water, period.”
Deluzio’s comments come amid ongoing national debates over religious tolerance following reported incidents targeting houses of worship. His remarks on trade reflect continued discussions about U.S. industrial policy and efforts to revitalize manufacturing regions such as Western Pennsylvania. The statement regarding environmental regulation highlights disputes over federal policies affecting water quality standards in the United States.
