Congressman Chris Deluzio, representing Pennsylvania’s 17th district, addressed military oversight and railway safety in a series of posts on May 19, 2026.
In one post, Deluzio cited testimony from a Major regarding the Pentagon’s handling of troop safety: “This was a failure.” He continued, “A Major’s own words. Here, on the record, confirming that American troops could’ve been saved if the Pentagon had provided better protection, training, and medical resources.”
Later that day, Deluzio referenced an earlier exchange with Pete Hegseth concerning the credibility of U.S. troops: “I asked Pete Hegseth whether he thought these troops were liars nearly a month ago. He refused to answer.”
Shifting focus to transportation policy, Deluzio called for legislative action: “Let’s pass the Railway Safety Act! The people of Beaver County and East Palestine have waited long enough.”
The Railway Safety Act is federal legislation introduced after several high-profile train derailments in the United States. The bill aims to improve rail safety standards and has received bipartisan support in Congress following incidents affecting communities such as East Palestine, Ohio.
