Congressman Chris Deluzio, currently representing Pennsylvania’s 17th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared his views and constituents’ awareness through a series of social media posts dated April 29, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh in 1984, Deluzio replaced Conor Lamb in 2023 and continues to reside in Aspinwall.
On April 29, 2025, Deluzio expressed gratitude to the APRI Pittsburgh for inviting him to speak at their conference. He highlighted the inseparability of workers’ rights and civil rights, pointing out the historical efforts by the powerful to divide hardworking individuals. Deluzio emphasized the significance of solidarity and unity by stating, “The fight for workers’ rights and civil rights are inseparable. It’s why the powerful have always tried to divide hardworking people. And it’s why solidarity and unity can mean real power.”
Later that afternoon, Deluzio issued a weather warning for his constituents, alerting them to prepare for severe weather conditions. He advised readiness for high winds, hail, and the possibility of a tornado, urging everyone to stay safe by reminding, “Reminder that we have some severe weather coming this afternoon. Please get ready for dangerously high winds and possible hail and a tornado between 3-7pm. Stay safe, everybody!”
In the evening, Deluzio articulated criticism regarding the banning of certain books at the U.S. Naval Academy. He questioned the library’s choices, contrasting the presence of Adolf Hitler’s writings with the omission of works by Maya Angelou. Calling the situation indefensible, Deluzio stated, “If we’re gonna trust adult Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy to lead Marines & Sailors in harm’s way, we can trust them to read books. It’s indefensible to ban books from the library there—my alma mater—especially when you’re hiding writing by Maya Angelou, but not Adolf Hitler.”
Deluzio’s discourse showcases his active role in addressing both regional concerns and broader societal issues prominently.
