Congressman Chris Deluzio, who represents Pennsylvania’s 17th District in the U.S. Congress, shared several updates through social media on January 26 and 27, 2025. His posts reflect on trade agreements, educational appointments, and environmental initiatives within his district.

On January 26, Deluzio addressed historical trade agreements with China. He stated that “An all too common story: when the US signed a bad trade deal with China in the 90’s, furniture makers flocked to where they could pay workers crap wages…” This comment reflects concerns about past economic decisions impacting American labor markets.

Later that day, he celebrated an achievement related to military service academies. He tweeted about informing a young person from his district of their appointment to a national service academy: “A great part of my job is sharing the news with a patriotic young person from #PA17 that they’ve been appointed to one of our nation’s service academies.” Deluzio highlighted his own experience at the Naval Academy as influential in his public service career.

On January 27, Deluzio announced an environmental initiative involving school transportation in his district. He expressed satisfaction over securing funding for new electric school buses: “Our kids shouldn’t breathe toxic fumes on their way to school. Thanks to a $13 mil investment, 48 new electric school buses are coming to 5 school districts across #PA17…” The investment aims to improve air quality for students traveling to and from school.
