Congressman Chris Deluzio, who represents Pennsylvania’s 17th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on October 16, 2025, to comment on issues related to the ongoing government shutdown and infrastructure priorities.
On October 16, Deluzio posted about a recent meeting with the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Democrats, stating: “At yesterday’s @TransportDems meeting, I heard from @NATCA about how this government shutdown is pounding federal workers who keep our airspace safe—and how a sustained shutdown could hurt the training pipeline for new controllers.” The National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) has previously raised concerns about the impact of funding lapses on both current staff and the training of new air traffic controllers.
Later that day, Deluzio advocated for advancements in transportation infrastructure by posting: “Let’s speed it up—high speed rail! “ The push for high-speed rail has been a recurring topic among lawmakers seeking to modernize transit options across the country.
In a separate post that evening, Deluzio called for action on key policy issues, writing: “Lower healthcare costs. Re-open the government. Do what’s best for the country.”
Deluzio has represented Pennsylvania’s 17th district since 2023, succeeding Conor Lamb. Born in Pittsburgh in 1984, Deluzio is currently 38 years old and resides in Aspinwall. As a member of Congress, he has focused his public communications on issues affecting both his constituents and national policy.
