Congressman Chris Deluzio, a U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania, shared details from his recent oversight activities in a series of posts on June 1, 2026. Deluzio’s statements focused on conditions at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center and broader concerns about technological innovation.
In a post published at 20:24 UTC, Deluzio referenced an oversight visit with fellow representative Summer Lee, writing, “More from my oversight visit with @RepSummerLee here: https://t.co/tAHEL1jG7e”.
In another message posted at the same time, Deluzio disclosed information gathered during an unannounced inspection of Moshannon, described as ICE’s largest detention center in Pennsylvania. He stated, “Learned some serious data during my unannounced oversight to Moshannon (ICE’s largest detention center in PA). As of Thursday, around 1,100 of the 1,417 adults inside are classified as ‘low security.’ This means more than 78% of the people detained inside Moshannon are NOT”.
Later that evening at 22:16 UTC, Deluzio commented on ethical considerations regarding artificial intelligence by citing religious guidance. He wrote, “Good guidance from Pope Leo on AI: Human Life is sacred. Governments should not sacrifice our humanity to the powerful in their quest to innovate at any cost.”
The Moshannon Valley Processing Center is operated under contract by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and has drawn attention for its size and role in detaining non-citizens in Pennsylvania. Oversight visits by lawmakers are part of ongoing efforts to monitor conditions within such facilities and assess compliance with federal standards.
Discussions about artificial intelligence have intensified globally as policymakers consider how best to balance innovation with ethical obligations and human rights protections.
