Congressman Chris Deluzio, who represents Pennsylvania’s 17th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on October 6, 2025, to share union criticisms and voice concerns over recent policy decisions affecting construction workers.
In a tweet posted at 19:39 UTC, Deluzio quoted the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), stating: “.@iuoe_union didn’t mince words: ‘Let’s call this what it is: political retaliation at the expense of workers…This Administration campaigned on ‘American Workers First.’ Instead, they have consistently taken away job opportunities leaving Operating Engineers and thousands of”.
At the same time, Deluzio criticized Republican lawmakers for their approach to tax and labor policies. He wrote: “When D.C. Republicans funnel tax giveaways to billionaires but turn around to cut healthcare and kill construction jobs, it’s clear who they’re for and who they’re against. Every chance they get, Republican politicians are waging class warfare on hardworking Americans.”
In another post from October 6, he cited remarks from the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA): “.@LIUNA called the White House’s project cancellations ‘an immediate and dire threat to our economy and the livelihoods of thousands of construction workers.'”
Chris Deluzio has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Conor Lamb as representative for Pennsylvania’s 17th district. Born in Pittsburgh in 1984, Deluzio currently resides in Aspinwall.
