Congressman Chris Deluzio, who represents Pennsylvania’s 17th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, has used his social media platform in recent days to comment on both personal and political developments, including the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 14, 2025, Deluzio posted a message expressing appreciation for families coming together: “Beautiful to see families reunited after so long!”
The following day, Deluzio addressed the federal government shutdown. He shared the results of a survey he conducted regarding whether House Speaker Mike Johnson should reconvene the House to vote on reopening the government. On October 15, 2025, he wrote: “I put out a survey asking folks a basic question: Should Speaker Johnson bring back the U.S. House of Representatives so we can vote to reopen the government? Over 1,300 people responded, and the results are overwhelming: 93.5% say YES. The poll is still open if you’d like to”
Later that day, Deluzio commented from the Capitol about the negotiations to end the shutdown and address healthcare costs. He stated: “I’m here in the Capitol, working and ready to hash out a deal to re-open the government and stop healthcare costs from getting even higher. But House Republicans are nowhere to be seen—they’re not even pretending to want to negotiate with Democrats for the good of the country.”
Deluzio began serving as the representative for Pennsylvania’s 17th district in 2023 after succeeding Conor Lamb. Born in Pittsburgh in 1984, Deluzio is 38 years old and resides in Aspinwall.
