Rep. Eric Nelson and the House Republican Policy Committee, chaired by Josh Kail, held a hearing in Greensburg to discuss the effects of energy policies on jobs and energy independence in Pennsylvania. The session, titled "Opportunity Lost: Bureaucracy’s Battle Against Fracking," focused on the challenges posed by regulatory obstacles to local companies.
Testimonies were provided by several industry representatives, including Michael Hillenbrand of Huntley and Huntley, Amy McChesney of McChesney Farms, Randy M. Roadman from General Carbide Corporation, and Jeff Nobers from Pittsburgh Works Together.
Nobers highlighted the necessity for energy policies that provide reliable and affordable energy. He stated, "Energy is too important to leave to chance," emphasizing that transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables without a strategic plan is not sustainable for the energy grid.
Nelson pointed out that bureaucratic delays increase costs and hinder job opportunities in Pennsylvania. He remarked, "This hearing confirmed how excessive bureaucracy and permit delays create higher costs and push job opportunities out of Pennsylvania."
Kail expressed his vision for a prosperous Pennsylvania driven by its natural resources but criticized state-level obstacles. He said, “I want to see a Pennsylvania in which my children can thrive.”
