Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) has announced significant state infrastructure grants totaling over $6.3 million for projects in Beaver and Lawrence Counties. The grants were awarded to the Beaver County Conservation District and Wampum Borough, representing important investments in water line and stormwater improvements in the region.

Vogel expressed his satisfaction with the investments, stating, “It is great to see the continued investments into the 47th District, especially when it comes to investing in water line and stormwater improvement projects that are a priority in our area. Maintaining all aspects of our local infrastructure is a crucial part of providing a safe community for our residents to thrive in.”

Beaver County Conservation District received over $1.3 million for the Wright Brothers Dairy Farm project. This project includes the construction of new feeding and resting areas, a cattle walkway to minimize erosion and sedimentation, manure collection facilities, waste storage facilities, a silage bag pad, and gravel access areas. Furthermore, a grassed waterway will be established to manage stormwater runoff effectively.

In Lawrence County, Wampum Borough was awarded $3.4 million for the replacement of existing distribution lines with new six-inch ductile iron water lines along Clyde, Kay, Main, and Beaver Streets. Additionally, approximately 100 feet of the new water line will be encased in 12-inch steel pipe.

Wampum Borough also secured $1.6 million to remove around 50 lead service lines in the drinking water system. These will be replaced with 0.75-inch copper service lines, including necessary appurtenances and restoration.

The grants were approved by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), an independent state agency that provides financial assistance for the construction of drinking water, sewer, and stormwater projects.
