Professor Emeritus Dr. Ronald P. Volpe Endowed Scholarship

Community College of Beaver County announces a new endowed scholarship fund at the CCBC Foundation. The established endowment, with an initial investment of $30,000, will provide scholarships to full-time, second-year business management students. The donation comes from CCBC Professor Emeritus Dr. Ronald P. Volpe.

“Throughout my 18 years as a CCBC faculty member, I saw many students working several jobs to help with tuition payments,” said Dr. Volpe. “Hopefully, recipients of the Dr. Ronald P. Volpe Scholarship will be relieved of the stress and anxiety associated with balancing school and work-related activities. I am honored to make this contribution to their education.”

Dr. Volpe started teaching in CCBC’s Business Education Department in 1968 under the leadership of CCBC’s first president, Dr. H.B. Monroe, who had a special request for the new faculty member. Wanting to build a meaningful student experience, President Monroe came to Volpe with a charge to organize a CCBC chapter for the Society for the Advancement of Management (S.A.M.). Throughout his tenure, Dr. Volpe’s tremendous leadership enhanced the learning experiences of hundreds of students. During his time as the organization’s advisor, he led more than thirty groups of students on SAM-sponsored tours of the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank, exposing them to Wall Street operations.

“The CCBC Foundation is honored to receive this generous commitment from Professor Emeritus Volpe. As an incredible educator, he dedicated his life to changing lives in the classroom through excellence in education. Now, through his generosity to the CCBC Foundation, his legacy will continue to improve lives for generations to come,” stated Kolton Codner, Associate Vice President of Presidential Initiatives and Executive Director of the CCBC Foundation.
