The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) has announced the allocation of technology devices to two organizations in Beaver County. Tech2Elevate, located in Ambridge, will receive 25 devices, while The Prevention Network & CLASS Academy in Baden will be provided with 75 devices through the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP). This was confirmed by Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47).

The initiative aims to supply technology devices to communities where cost has been a barrier to broadband adoption and usage. "With 100 devices being awarded to these Beaver County facilities, this is a perfect example of one of the many ways broadband access can be expanded in our communities," stated Vogel. "These efforts continue to help bridge the digital divide we continue to witness and provide the tools necessary to thrive in today’s digital world."

Funded by $20 million from federal sources, the DCTP program aids public-facing community anchor institutions such as libraries, schools, municipalities, workforce training organizations, and other non-profits. Projects eligible for support focus on providing devices that enable broadband internet access while promoting digital literacy and skills training.

To ensure transparency and track progress effectively, PBDA requires grantees to submit quarterly and annual reports detailing project successes and accomplishments. These reports include assessments of how access to technology impacts the community.

This recent distribution of awards is part of Pennsylvania's larger strategy to improve digital access throughout the state. It underscores a commitment to closing the digital divide and fostering stronger connections within Pennsylvania communities.
