Chris Deluzio, a U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 17th district since 2023, has been vocal about railway safety through a series of tweets. His focus is on enforcing stricter regulations and penalties for railroads to ensure community safety.

On February 2, 2025, Deluzio tweeted about the need for increased fines for railroads that violate regulations. He emphasized the urgency of passing his new Railway Safety Act by stating, "When railroads break the rules, they should get more than a slap on the wrist. We need to fines to force them to respect our communities. That's part of my new Railway Safety Act. Mon marks 2yrs since Norfolk Southern's East Palestine derailment. We need to pass this bill now."

On February 3, 2025, he continued his advocacy by encouraging support for his legislation with another tweet: "Anyone talking tough about rail safety and making our communities safer from big railroads ought to back my 'Railway Safety Act.'"

Later that day, Deluzio referenced an editorial from The Tribune Review in a tweet highlighting the importance of preventive measures over reactive spending by railroad companies: "The Tribune Review Editorial Board is exactly right: 'Norfolk Southern and other rail companies could be better served by seeing money go into preemptive steps rather than spreading cash around after an accident occurs.'"
